Lockpicking @ Codebits

One of the invited speakers at this year's Codebits is Walter Belgers, who will be teaching us the fine art of lockpicking.

Walter is Principal Security Consultant and Partner at Madison Gurkha, a Dutch firm specialised in technical IT security. He regularly performs security audits (ethical hacking), but also gives courses (security awareness, forensics) and occasionally performs social engineering. Walter founded the Eindhoven chapter of TOOOL, the Open Organisation of Lockpickers, based in the Netherlands. He is a multiple winner of the TOOOL lockpicking contest.

Walter will be giving a talk at Codebits: "Becoming a lockpicker"

Abstract: "Lockpicking is the art and science of opening locks without the key and without force (but with consent of the owner). In the lecture, Walter will explain just why it is that picking locks is possible. He will describe the basic technique, but also pickguns and bumping. He will look into several techniques that manufacturers use to make lockpicking harder - and how to defeat those."

We're also preparing a few workshops so you can try lockpicking by yourself at Codebits.

Don't forget to register for the event. We'll start approving candidates very soon.

Eu cá punha-me a pau e consultava os advogados... :-)

That's being taken care off :-)

Incidentally, the workshops also include a module on ethics.
