The Lisbon API is here!

First, a reminder and explanation of what we're talking about:

"Lisbon has a challenge for you: tell us what to do with our files and archives. Use the information. It’s yours.

We have a prize for the best idea. We will help you implement that idea. And, potentially, there is a market to buy your idea.

We are providing you with the Hub API containing sample data from our archives as an example of the data that will eventually be available for anyone to use.

The HUB API supplied for Codebits 2010 is not connected to real backend services during the event, its purpose being to provide an interface to sample data, in order to allow anyone to create application functional mockups.

The developers of the best apps will have access to real data and information systems, along with support from the City Hall in order to turn your dream application into a fully working product.

You can submit your apps for any platform, written in any language, as long as you have a nice idea and the skills required to use the HUB API.

On Friday 12th, 3 pm, Stage A, all of the above will be presented and explained, together with the presentation that Andrés Ortiz will make on the use of data that Bestiario has successfully turned into useful applications.

By the end of Codebits, the City Hall will also deliver a prize for the best application.

Be creative. Use our information. It’s yours.

We're excited about this too and can't wait to see your ideas.

Here's the link for the Lisbon API; head to your Codebits page (login, follow the link "your page") and you should find there your personal key to this API.

You can find more information on this initiative here.

Have fun!

i'm a little confused about this vs the programming contest. i mean, what is the timeline and requirements for me to submit my idea(s) and code?

If there's any confusion, it's our fault, for not clarifying that.

The Lisbon API is part of the 48 hour competition. This means that if your project involves the Lisbon API it is also eligible for this additional prize.
